SPECULOOS Consortium gathered in La Laguna to discuss exoplanet science

La Laguna, Tenerife, recently hosted the bi-annual meeting of the SPECULOOS consortium. Researchers from MIT, ETH Zurich, Bern, University of Birmingham, Université de Liège,  University of Cambridge, and IAC gathered to discuss the search for rocky planets orbiting ultra-cool dwarf stars.

SPECULOOS (Search for habitable Planets EClipsing Ultra COOl Stars) is an international project dedicated to finding habitable planets around ultra-cool stars. Its network of telescopes, including Artemis at Teide Observatory, has employed the transit method to uncover these distant worlds.

Organized by MIT Professor Julien de Wit, the meeting featured Nobel Laureate Professor Didier Queloz (University of Cambridge and ETH Zurich), who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for discovering the first exoplanet orbiting a Sun-like star.
